johnloguk > 1.1.09 - Dreamland They say it is good to face your fears, so here I am starting the year off with another SP (even if I am hiding behind some dreamy PP). I had intended taking a drive and finding somewhere a little wild to go for a walk today, but it is cold and very grey, and with fuel the price it is I decided to go for a walk inside my head instead. Huge thanks to MB for sending me this beautiful book of her beloved Colorado, I've been entranced by it since it arrived on my doorstep the other day, and it will be a source of pleasure for years to come. Oh yes, and a very Happy New Year to you all :)
johnloguk > 31.3.09 - March The latest in my series of monthly collages. I'm going to try to do a whole year in the same style, using flowers/plants from each month, maybe make a calendar at the end. So far got November, January, February and March. This was the hardest to make because there are now so many flowers to choose from! It didn't help that my computer crashed just as I was saving it, and so I had to do it all over again from scratch! Is it really April tomorrow?
johnloguk > 30.6.08 - On Reflection. There was a time when I dreamed of living on an old narrow boat like this, travelling the waterways from pub to pub. I've had three holidays on them and had a great time. I ought to start saving up for one now before I run out of time I reckon :) Did anyone else watch the Andy Murray vs Richard Gasquet match at Wimbledon earlier today? What a classic, if you missed it try to catch a highlights show, you won't be disappointed.
johnloguk > 21.2.09 - Spring? It is a stunning Springlike day here today, I've been out this morning in just a shirt and trousers, and I was still hot! After doing my usual Saturday chores this morning I decided to seek out some snowdrops for my Daily. I found so many that I couldn't decide how to shoot them! Should I try to get artistic with a single flower and spectacular bokeh? Stand back and capture a white carpet? In the end I went for the middle ground, and threw in some yellow for good measure. Singalong with me....."it's a beautiful day, don't let it fade away" :)
johnloguk > 20.3.09 - Hill Farm Just a B&W conversion on one of the photos from last weekend, with a slight vignette added to give the impression of looking into the past. It's 9.30pm here now and I've not had chance to check out the Dailies yet, but I'll try now. Another manic Friday out of the way, and a two day photo shoot to look forward to over the weekend, wish me luck :)
johnloguk > 30.5.09 - May Oh boy was it hard to pick the shots for this month's wildflower collage, there are just so many to choose from now, and more by the day. But some just had to be there, the oxide daisy, the wild rose, the buttercups, forget me nots and flag iris. The rhododendrons made the background as they were sufficiently different to most of the rest of the flowers, but I nearly used a bank of oxide daisies and a field of buttercups. This is getting really hard, but I'm enjoying the challenge and will definitely make it through the year, watch this space :) Thanks for the kind words on yesterdays butterfly shot, they are still everywhere today and look so beautiful in the sunshine.
johnloguk > 4.10.09 - Woooooooooooooooooooooooooo More ghostly goings on in the "ghost corridor". I think yesterday's ghost pic had a romantic feel to it, so I tried for a more Gothic feel to this one. I promise to do something different tomorrow :)
johnloguk > 31.7.08 - Six Months on The Dailies, Yippeeeeee, doesn't time fly when you're having fun :) This is another shot from last night, partly because it has been raining most of the day, and partly because I liked the feel of the image but couldn't decide what to do with it until earlier this evening. Apologies if the frames and text are becoming too predictable, please indulge me, it is my 6 month anniversary after all :) Dusk really is my favourite time of day, the light is so atmospheric, and it gives so many photographic opportunities. I love it when there is still some colour in the sky, the lights are all coming on, and long exposures give rich colours and show movement in this ghostly way. I also like the way that hardly any of the buildings in this view are straight in any plane. The building on the right isn't even level within itself. But bizarrely, the object that is most out of the perpendicular is the brand new tourist sign :)
johnloguk > 28.11.08 - Foggy Daze Our first real fog of the winter today. I was desperate to get out and take some photos, but it was manic Friday and opportunities were limited. Eventually I did get these, and thought I'd try a monochrome collage for a change. I only got on the Dailies briefly this morning, but I'll try to catch up a bit tomorrow. Have a great weekend.

It is a stunning Springlike day here today, I've been out this morning in just a shirt and trousers, and I was still hot! After doing my usual Saturday chores this morning I decided to seek out some snowdrops for my Daily. I found so many that I couldn't decide how to shoot them! Should I try to get artistic with a single flower and spectacular bokeh? Stand back and capture a white carpet? In the end I went for the middle ground, and threw in some yellow for good measure. Singalong with me....."it's a beautiful day, don't let it fade away" :)
