johnloguk > 28.3.09 - Watching Me Watching You

I had the kids today and until half an hour ago I'd forgotten that I hadn't taken a Daily yet! I toyed with the idea of going out somewhere for a shot, but a nano second later decided against it :)

So you get a silly SP in the bathroom mirror, converted to B&W, solarized and a cyan filter added. It sounds complicated, but it really wasn't. The best thing about the PP is that it covers up the filthy state of the mirror! Joking apart this shot is very "me". Using the door frame as an impromptu tripod because I couldn't be bothered to get it out of the cupboard, and getting much better comp than I could have got from here by using a tripod. I think my tripod might have given up waiting to be used and left me, I've not seen it in quite a while :)
johnloguk > 25.3.09 - "Into the Valley of Death"

Another "Tennyson" image from the weekend, the quote from his poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade" sums up how I felt at times, being a landscape photographer taking images like this one for the actors' portfolios, but it was a wonderful experience and great fun, surrounded by very talented people. Don't forget to check out my previous Daily, which comes from the same shoot. Details of the project can be found here; http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html More can be revealed when the film is launched in late May.

The really cool thing about this shot is that the glasses and pipe belonged to Tennyson himself.

Thanks for your patience with me on the Dailies over the last few days, I'll try and do some catching up now :)
johnloguk > 31.1.09 - A Year on the Dailies :)

Yes I know, this is pic 367, but I posted 2 shots on 1 day. I'll be starting a new gallery tomorrow and seeing where it takes me. These are just a few of the photos that nearly made it to the Dailies, my biggest problem has always been to choose which shot to put in this gallery. I've not quite managed to take a photo every day, and had to resort to the archives every now and again, but I managed a lot more than I thought I would when I started!

Thanks for all the support and friendship over the last 12 months, I learnt so much and tried so many new things, there is always something new to try in photography! I hope that I can meet up with some of you during 2009, now that would be FUN :)
johnloguk > 19.1.09 - Timeless

This is another shot from my walk yesterday, but I was so pleased with the sepia conversion that I had to share it with you in this format. I just love the old tree, I bet it could tell some tales. If you follow the Google Maps feature you will see a very detailed aerial photo, which shows the earthworks of the old mediaeval village around the church.

johnloguk > 24.3.09 - "Tennyson"

I've been given permission to publish a couple of my Tennyson photos from the weekend, which is cool because I'd got a day behind and it allows me to catch up. This is actor Ben Poole as the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It is one of my favourite images from the shoot because it took so long to get right :)

More info on the project here; http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html
johnloguk > 21.12.08 - Stark Beauty

Unseasonably warm weather yesterday, so I spent most of it outdoors taking photos. Unfortunately Smugmug chose yesterday to keep crashing, so I hardly managed to upload any shots or make many comments. I uploaded some to my Arboretum Gallery here, the late afternoon light was wonderful; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6049364_a8pPu#440619538_hTHUB

I then went to Lincoln South Common for the actual sunset, which was stunning. This wasn't the most spectacular sunset shot, it was pretty much at the end of the "show", but I really like the composition in this one.

Update, more sunsets from the South Common last night are now uploaded; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4053411_yY5Qg#440961314_c8Jgr
johnloguk > 02.02.10 - The Light

The only good thing about a day of cold drizzle is that it makes cobbles very photogenic! As soon as I'd finished work I went in search of wet cobbles. Usually I would like a person in a photo like this, but I like the atmosphere in this as it is. I deliberately under-exposed the shot to emphasise the light.
johnloguk > 30.6.09 - June

As Summer draws on it gets harder to choose the wildflowers for these collages. There are no buttercups, daisies, poppies, "fireweed" and a whole host of beautiful flowers. Hopefully they will get a chance in July's collage, but of course they will be even more flowers battling for the collage by then! But I am now half-way through this calendar project, and November was done last year :)

The year so far can be seen here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/8057142_2Tkfp#524865489_gekpy

Late Edit; The background image is a tiny plant called "Speedwell" which covers the ground like a blue mist on the nature reserve near my home. The left centre image is a close-up of one of the individual flowers. By the time I produce the final calendar I hope to have a key to all the images featured

Just after I posted my Daily for yesterday I went out to make some deliveries and this happened! It is too spectacular to waste so it is now my Daily for today :)

There are a couple more shots of the sunset here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4053411_yY5Qg#468980212_rmSGc
