This is another shot from my rainy photo walk yesterday afternoon, but I like it so much I just had to share it on the Dailies. I was walking along a very muddy riverbank taking photos of the old industrial buildings on the other side of the river, when I turned round and saw the Cathedral framed between the trees up on the hill. I liked the framing, but I also liked the rich colours as though the rain had washed everything bright and clean.

Some days I spend ages trying to find a Daily, but other days I just point the camera and shoot whatever is in front of me, this is one of the latter! The rain that was forecast for the weekend finally arrived this morning, and I was out and about in it for several hours. I took this just round the corner from my flat. My road is actually hidden behind the bush on the right. One of the things I love about living where I do is the number of footpaths that wind through the houses, encouraging us to leave the car behind and walk to more places. Not that I felt like walking far this morning :)

If you use the "map this" feature you might be confused, because most of the houses here weren't built when Google Earth took their photo :)
johnloguk > 4.7.08 - I thought about a hat-trick of SPs, but then I decided that it was time to retreat into my comfort zone to escape the bullying and ridicule, you lot can be 'orrible you know. One minute I'm told off for being grumpy, then you think I look like Julie Andrews. Mind you, I think Julie might be more upset than me by the comparision :)

Lots of people commented on the rich colours in yesterday's Daily. I didn't think they were special because we've had days like this for quite a while now. Everything is very green, and the skies have been the most beautiful blues imaginable. Later in the summer things will start to look browner, and there will be more haze in the air, so we'd best make the most of these while we can.

I'm in the middle of my usual manic Friday. I'm actually having lunch now and it is 3.30pm, so you can tell what sort of a morning I've had. It is likely to be a long evening, so I'm posting this shot now while I have the chance. It is pretty much straight out of the camera. I adjusted the perspective in PS to get rid of some extreme skew from the 18mm, and cropped an area of plain sky from the top. I love the 1930s art deco sunshine on the houses to the left, but I hate the pub to the right :)

Oh, and I think you know that I'm only joking when I moan about the "bullying". You guys are so supportive, and I appreciate every single comment that you give.
johnloguk > Old Victorian houses angling steeply down the hill on the side of the Arboretum, in the Monks Road area of the City.
johnloguk > Houses in Exchequergate, bathed in the Cathedral floodlights
johnloguk > Living on the edge! The houses on my estate are now right on the edge of the old quarry. There are plans to build in the quarry too, but I hope they don't actually go ahead. The quarry, and adjacent nature reserve, are great places to go for a walk/run, and are best left wild (imho).
johnloguk > The same place as the previous photo, classic modern British housing (I quite like it). My local nature reserve, where I love to walk and run, is just off to the right of the shot.
