 The "Lexicon" Challenge...06/15/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Flout - to treat with contemptuous disregard".
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result: OK this is me showing contemptuous disregard to the law of trespass by running in a private quarry. I do this several times a week, along with other runners, dogwalkers, birdspotters, kids, in fact anyone who wants to use this wonderful local resource rather than just look at it from outside! This is my favourite part, running up a steep section from a rocky terrace to a grassy path that runs round the quarry edge

 The Tree Challenge...04/20/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Tree."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: Spring Trees. I really couldn't decide what to use for this challenge, something arty, abstract? In the end this one grabbed me by the throat and begged to be used. No frames this time, no collages, no vignettes, no text, just huge chunks of Spring colour straight out of camera. There are still plenty of trees round here with little or no leaves on them, but this cherry and the willows along the river are in full effect right now. This was taken on Saturday, so is very similar to my Daily from that day, and it is also the reverse of this view from a couple of weeks ago http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/7240041_kZdsG/2/505016407_qqzi2#P-2-15

so I promise I'll leave this view alone for a while now :)

PS. If you use the "map this" feature you can see the trees, and even the swans!

 The Something Blue Challenge...03/16/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Something Blue."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Bill Pador, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, MSpencer, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: "Moonlight Lovers". This is still technically a secret project, but the image suited the challenge so well I had to use it, and anyway, I don't think I'm giving much away here :)

I'm currently doing some still photography for a film project that will be released in May, so all will be revealed then. This is the classic "shoot into the midday sun then fiddle about with it until it looks like moonlight" trick. I've already been way out of my comfort zone with this project, but I've learned so many new things. Next weekend I'm shooting the actors in period costume for their portfolios, how far from landscapes is it possible to get!

 The Something Borrowed Challenge...03/09/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Something Borrowed."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Bill Pador, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: Anyone for Squash? I really struggled with this challenge. Initially I thought I'd borrow a video camera and do something with that, but then I got poorly and completely forgot about it! In fact I forgot about the Challenge until this morning. The only thing I have at the moment that is borrowed is this squash racket, and I've had it for ages. In fact when my mate Ian lent it to me he said I could keep it, but for the purpose of this challenge it is still borrowed :)

The Motion Challenge...01/26/09
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of "Motion."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Bill Pador, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, MSpencer, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Hillary, MyKey, and myself.
The Result: The Emotion of Motion - I love motion, in fact I'm almost addicted to it. I love walking, running, climbing, cycling, even driving if the roads are narrow and twisting. I love flying and rollercoasters, and I hate sitting still! This is an attempt to capture me skipping down some old steps, light footed, almost flying along, just loving the feeling of movement. The result looks complicated, but it really couldn't be simpler to do. Set the camera up, aperture priority to give a relatively long shutter speed, I actually played around with different settings to get a variety of movement. I chose the best of about 8 shots, then just put them together like this in PS Elements. I thought the vertical format suited the movement down the steps.
