This gallery is now a complete year of Daily photos, and although it has felt like a chore on some days I have to say that it has been great fun most of the time. When I started my intention was to challenge myself to try new things, especially to get out of my landscape comfort zone and make myself a more rounded photographer. I've certainly tried lots of new things, had a few disasters, some near misses, and lots of pleasant surprises. But the biggest pleasure is always reading other people's comments and checking out their galleries. There are so many talented people on here that it beggars belief. I really appreciate any comments, especially the constructive ones. I am now moving on to a new gallery for my second year.........
29.5.08 - Happy Daze! This is a bit of a silly throw away shot, with more than a hint of desperation about it. It is the only photo I've taken today, but despite all this it is very important to me. I recently went self-employed, which can be a very stressful and lonely way of life. But I'm part of a wonderful team of lovely people, where the level of support is sometimes overwhelming. A few weeks ago I set myself quite a high target to aim at, and I just made it, but I couldn't have done it on my own. This evening we had a team meeting and, amongst other things, we celebrated everyone's achievements. I got this little badge, which means far more than it's monetary value. I gave a presentation at the meeting too, and was given a bottle of wine for my "trouble". I also got a card of congratulations the other day, and when I opened it hundreds of these little smilies, stars and hearts fell out everywhere. You can't believe how much these seemingly insignificant things mean to me, which is why I thought this little set piece would make a nice DP today.
It's now 00.45am and I've only just eaten, not good for my body clock, but I'm far too awake for bed. I was talking to a new team member this evening, and found out that her family live in Brisbane, same City as Lesley and Jacinda, it's a very small world :)
